This show is notable as it was recorded for an intended Live EP which was then scrapped..

The recording would eventually be mixed and released in 2020 on "The Early Years 79-81" box set to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the "On Through The Night" album release.. "Ride Into The Sun" was added as an extra encore song and likely due to the concert being recorded.

April 29, 1980 w/ Magnum, Dawn Trader. This show is notable as it was the band's final concert before first setting foot on American soil for their very first US tour three weeks later, kicking off in Santa Monica, CA, where they appropriately kicked off their set with the aptly named Hello America. July 8, 1980 w/ Judas Priest, Scorpions. Towson Center - Towson, MD. Thames-Side Arena - Reading, England.

This show is notable as it was an event billed as "Reading Rock'80 - 20th National Rock Festival" and held over three days from August 22-24.. It was the first appearance by the band at a major UK festival.. They played an extremely rare original song called "Long Way From Home, " that was never recorded on record or released officially.. They also played "Medicine Man, " which later became Rock!

(Till You Drop)" and the pre "High'n' Dry" version of "Lady Strange.. "Me And My Wine" also featured as an (at the time) unreleased song - later released as a B-side to "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" and remixed for the 1984 "High'n' Dry" re-release.. Several songs from the band's set were recorded by the BBC's "In Concert" show and broadcast a week later, and were eventually released officially by the band on the 2019 "The Early Years'79-'81'" box set.. This show is notable as the only known time that "You Got Me Runnin'" was performed live.. UFO replaced the Scorpions on the bill and had to play after Rainbow, due to guitarist Ritchie Blackmore refusing to play after midnight. July 5, 1981 w/ Rainbow, UFO. Velódromo Anoeta - San Sebastian, Spain.

This show is notable as Def Leppard, the support act, were forced to play last, after Rainbow, the headliner.. As with the previous show in Barcelona, this was again due to guitarist Ritchie Blackmore refusing to play after midnight and Spanish promoters not wanting to start the show in daylight.. Most of the crowd had left by the time Lep started to play..

Joe Elliott was quoted as saying. We had about seven percent of the crowd left..

Afterwards, they vowed never to play Spain again (but would return in October 1983 only to have more issues, as seen on the October 29, 1983 show description).. UFO were once again replacements on the bill for Scorpions, and played first.

This show is notable as it was almost halted when Joe was hit near his eye with a coin, resulting in fighting between himself, roadies and an audience member.. The show abruptly stopped during the "Rock Of Ages" sing-a-long, when this occurred..

As a result, the following songs were cut from the show: "Bringin' On The Heartbreak / Switch 625, " "Let It Go, " "Wasted, " "Stagefright, " and neither Phil nor Steve's guitar solos.. After the incident was settled, the band quickly played the Creedence Clearwater Revival song "Travellin' Band" after the show stoppage, before quickly exiting the stage.. As quoted from the 1987 "Animal Instinct" biography. A show in San Sebastian, Spain was disrupted by a full-scale brawl when a gang of rowdies at the foot of the stage started spitting at the band.

Then, during "Rock Of Ages, " Joe was leading the singalong when he was knocked unconscious by a large coin thrown by one of the spitters, which hit him about an eighth of an inch from his eye. When he came to with blood splattered all over his shirt, and peering from under his badly swollen eyelid, Joe saw the kid being congratulated by his pals, put two and two together and jumped into the audience to.

Do him a bit of an injury. But then his mates joined in and beat the shit out of me. Some of our road crew jumped in and within minutes there were fifteen people at the foot of the stage fighting, ten of us and five of them. Joe nearly punched roadie Malvin Mortimer in the face by mistake.

We didn't finish the song. The rest of the band came out, whipped through Travellin' Band and left. I had a headache for three days after that. Joe still bears a scar from that coin. December 3, 1983 w/ Rock Goddess.

Westfallenhalle - Dortmund, W Germany. This show is notable as the only known professionally shot footage of "Billy's Got A Gun"..

It was the "Rock Pop Festival, " organised by ZDF TV and Radio, and was filmed and broadcast on TV and radio in February 1984.. Also, the final European show played before Rick Allen's accident a year later.. And the last time the band used pyrotechnics until October 2006 on the YEAH! Other performers on the bill included Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot and M. This show is notable as it is pictured in the middle of the 1995 "Vault" CD booklet, as well as in the 1987 UK "Hysteria" tour program.. The band played to over 40,000 fans..

September 9, 1987 w/ Tesla. Hammersmith Odeon - London, England. This show is notable as it was the second time Brian May of Queen appeared at a Def Leppard show..

He joined them for a cover of "Now I'm Here" at the end of the show.. The band held a celebratory party following this gig at Drone's nightclub, in the Knightsbridge area of the city, which was attended by Brian May, members of Spandau Ballet, Iron Maiden, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, WASP, Tesla and Zodiac Mindwarp.. Joe had to recover the next morning for an appearance on the SKY TV show "Monsters Of Rock" with Mick Wall.. He wore sunglasses for the first part of the interview as he was, admittedly, quite hungover from the night before. October 12, 1987 w/ Tesla.

This show is notable as Ross Halfin took photos of the band and crew in the backstage area for use in the 1988 tour program.. Many of the first and most iconic shots of the "In The Round" stage and crowd were also shot at this show, including some taken showing the "Hysteria" curtains surrounding the stage before the show started. Wembley Stadium - London, England. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert For AIDS Awareness. This show is notable as this was the first public unveiling of new guitarist Vivian Campbell as the replacement for Steve Clark, following his death in 1991.. Also, the first time Lep had played a show broadcast'live' on TV which was directed by David Mallet, who had directed many of the band's early videos from "Pyromania" and the "High'n' Dry" reissue.. Also, one of the largest live crowds the band had played in front of - over 72,000 fans in attendance for this historic event..

The event was organised to celebrate the life of Queen front man Freddie Mercury who had died in November 1991 of an AIDS related illness.. It featured performances from Metallica, Extreme, Guns N' Roses, U2, Spinal Tap and Def Leppard.. The surviving members of Queen also performed with guests, including Joe Elliott, Slash, Roger Daltrey, Tony Iommi, Zucchero Fornaciari, Gary Cherone, James Hetfield, Robert Plant, Paul Young, Mike Moran, Seal, Lisa Stansfield, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Phil Collen, Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, George Michael, Elton John, Axl Rose, John Jones and Liza Minnelli.. Also, the photo taken on the back of the UK "Animal" and US "Women" singles was shot here in 1985/1986 before the building was turned into a music venue.. Support act GUN had told the crowd two nights before, on July 1 at the NEC Arena show in Birmingham, it was their last night on the tour, yet they played this show as well.. After just one album, the band sadly split up..

PJ Smith would go on to sing backing vocals for Lep and also play in Clock with Vivian Campbell.. He also co-wrote the song "To Be Alive, " which Lep covered on their 1999 "Euphoria" album.

This show is notable as Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi, introduced by Joe as'a couple of cowboys,' appear on the last encore, a cover of the Bad Company song, "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love".. A snippet of a Bon Jovi song was played earlier as a teaser during the acoustic section.. Def Leppard attended Bon Jovi's MTV Keep The Faith.. An Evening With concert on the 25th at Kaufman-Astoria Studios in New York.. They also filmed the video for "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)" in the same city the day before this show.

Kellogg Arena - Battle Creek, MI. Civic Auditorium - Omaha, NE. Nassau Coliseum - Uniondale (Long Island), NY. This show is notable as footage was shot at this concert for a Japanese TV show including footage of the band arriving at the venue, backstage and at soundcheck.. Around two minutes each of "Tear It Down, " "Women" and "Too Late For Love" were also featured..

Also, the full length soundboard quality audio versions were also included on the "Rock Till You Drop" bootleg that featured all of the 11th September 1983 Los Angeles performance, a show that has since been released on the "Pyromania: Deluxe Edition".. Rick Savage, Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell filmed their interview sections for the "Visualize" home video at the Michelangelo Hotel in New York on the 25th.. The band also played a charity football match against Deep Purple while in town. Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa, ON, Canada. This show is notable as it was the band's last ever "In The Round" show..

Also notable as the band filmed the promo video for "I Wanna Touch U" at this show.. Joe announced they were filming before the song was played and that they might need to play it again.. The sound was actually the studio version played through the PA as the band performed for the cameras.. Rick Savage was quoted in 1993 as saying.

Just suffice to say we wanted to do a video that was completely live and would document how the band was on their second'In The Round' tour. We did that with'Sugar' and'Armageddon It' off the'Hysteria' tour and wanted some documentation of the'Adrenalize' tour. The NFL guys did a really brilliant job. There were some really fun things in that video. When Joe holds out a small Video 8 camcorder to film the crowd at the beginning of the video.

The next shots shown on the video is the actual footage that camcorder took. Footage filmed throughout the show appeared in the video and was later used for "Action" and also in parts of the "Visualize" home video as well.

This show is notable as Bryan Adams attended the concert and joined the band onstage for the first time to perform a cover of the Bad Company song "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, " alongside Joe, which was played as the last encore, in place of the usual "Photograph"..

Bryan was in town recording the song "Please Forgive Me" with Mutt Lange for his upcoming greatest hits album.. Mutt most likely also attended this show.. This was the second time the band had crossed paths with Bryan on this tour, as he had co-headlined a charity show with them at Madison Square Garden in New York in August 1992 just before their North American "In The Round" shows began..

Adams would return as a co-headliner for the 2005 "Double Header / Rock Of Ages" tours where they would play both minor league baseball stadiums and arenas together. May 27, 1993 w/ Ugly Kid Joe. June 6, 1993 w/ Thunder, Ugly Kid Joe, Terrorvision. Don Valley Stadium - Sheffield, England. This show is notable as the first headline stadium show by Def Leppard in the UK (and only, until 2023) and a triumphant hometown show..

Following on from their biggest arena tour in 1992, this was the peak of the band's popularity in the UK, playing in front of more than 40,000 rabid fans.. The show included the first concert performance of forthcoming single "Two Steps Behind"..

Also the last show in the UK to feature guitar solos by Phil and Vivian.. It was the biggest UK headline show the band had played and was filmed for the "Visualize" and "Video Archive" compilation releases..
