The highly successful Led Zeppelin LP, In Through the Outdoor , on Swan Song records and tapes was released just 11 months earlier. Following the band's triumphant return in 1979 having played the massive Knebworth Festival coinciding with the release of a number 1 album, the band played a short 14-date European tour in the summer of 1980.
Following this 1980 European tour, a North American tour was scheduled to take place in the autumn that year. The band would never tour again following John Bonham's death in September 1980. The Berlin 1980 show would be the last for the band with John Bonham.
The 1980 European tour setlist contained an interesting selection of songs with heavy keyboard emphasis. The band brought back'Train Kept a Rollin' which hadn't been performed onstage since 1970.
The setlist at this concert included. Train Kept a Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, White Summer, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love. Interesting to note, this concert featured the longest versions of'Trampled Underfoot' and'Stairway to Heaven' due to lengthy guitar solos. This concert also included one of the most interesting versions of'Whole Lotta Love' with extended middle section theramin playing from Jimmy Page coinciding with superb bass lines from John Paul Jones. For whatever reason,'Achilles Last Stand' was mysteriously dropped from this particular concert.
Also interesting to note if you are a fan or collector of underground live recordings, this concert gets very mixed reviews regarding the band's performance. A soundboard and at least two different audience recordings from this show exists. Please check out my other auctions for more rare concert ticket stubs/music magazines from the 70's/80's. Old concert ticket stubs are some of the most sought after items amongst Led Zeppelin fans and collectors. This concert ticket stub would make a great collectible for any Led Zeppelin fan or collector. Don't miss out on this rarity.
I've included pictures of both the front and back of ticket stub. Ticket stub measures approximately 2.90" by 5.50". Entire band name is still remaining on ticket stub as you can see from picture.
Top edge of front has some scuffing as you can see from picture from being removed out of a scrapbook along with some minor staining. Otherwise, ticket stub is in overall good condition with minimal/normal creasing for its age. Also, there are no pinholes or writing on ticket stub, either.
