Vintage Soundgarden Tour Concert Shirt (1990) withticket stub & autographs

  

I attended this show 31 years ago today while the band was on the road supporting Louder Than Love! This is a 31 year old used t-shirt.

It has a few tiny holes (see pics), the graphics are cracked, it says Large on the tag but it looks more like a Medium.. And it also has a story..

Back in 1990 me and about 10 other friends loaded up a couple of cars and skipped school to be first in line at The Riv in Chicago for the co-headling Soundgarden, Danzig, show with opening act Corrosion of Conformity. We had our friends hold our spot in line and went around the corner to sort things out. Much to our surprise there stood Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron (currently of Pearl Jam) signing autographs by the side entrance of the venue. I remember Kim was being handed record after record from some fan to sign. Matt and Kim were super polite, amazing, funny, and I was a 16 year old trembling mess. Chris Cornell was either inside already or still on the bus so we never got to meet him. The only thing I had for them to sign was the Ticketmaster envelope my tickets came in. Just as I reached out to have Matt to sign it... Some tall lanky guy with a bushy haircut accidently burns my hand with his cigarette. Halfway though saying, what the f--k dude? Oh this is our new bass player Ben! (I guess that explains why Jason Everman wasn't with them). Ben promptly apologizes for incinerating my hand and I quickly reply, um, um, it's ok man just sign this please! My hands still trembling from being rockstar struck. The band headed inside for soundcheck, the show was amazing, and luckily we headed up stairs for the Danzig set... Those Danzig fans made Woodstock 99 look like a knitting party. Now you may ask yourself...

I have a ton of memories with Soundgarden (my favorite band of all-time)... From the story above, to being at the show at The Vic before they played Lollapalooza in 2010, to eventually working on their website in 2012 (I built a scrollable timeline with all their posters/flyers/albums/promo items/etc), and finally... Being put on the guest list both nights for the two shows they did that tour... It's time to share "the stuff" with other diehard fans. Good luck & Loud Love!
